Girls Inc. Get Lessons in Horsemanship

Freshman Center Guidance Counselor and Girls Inc. of Long Island FC Chapter Liaison, Antoinette Shervington, orchestrated her final and epic field trip excursion,  which was held on May 18th at the Thomas School of Horsemanship, located in Melville, NY.  30 girls were expose to a myriad of equestrian drills including mounting, riding, roping, leading and learning about the natural instincts of domesticated and wild equidae. The group was joined by Brentwood School District Superintendent, Mr. Richard Loeschner, FC administrator for Girls Inc., Dr. Stephanie Weeks and  Renee Flagler, Executive Director of Gils Inc. of Long Island.  Ms. Shervington outreached to the New York State Mounted Police Department and secured to expertise of Senior Investigator, NYS Trooper Kim Byson, who designed each module and infused elements of leadership into each one.  Special thanks to Troopers Daniel Algrham, Michelle Keenan and Edna Otton for aiding in this truly amazing event.  Ms. Shervington has been the innovator of a slew of career development field trips over the span of her nearly 30 years as a Guidance Counselor, including overnight college tours, WABC Studios and various local businesses.  This trip is the pinnacle of an interactive career, dedicated to uplifting the lives of countless students in the Brentwood Union Free School district.  Ms. Shervington wants everyone to know that she is just a phone call away.
